Trent Alexander-Arnold remarks Kevin De Bruyne as the 'best midfielder in the world'

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has hailed Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne as the ‘best midfielder in the world’, claiming that the Belgian will ‘go down as one of the greatest midfielders in Premier League history’.

The Liverpool defender expressed and proclaimed his admiration for the Belgian star who has been sensational since his arrival at the Etihad from German side Wolfsburg in 2015.

“Best midfielder in the world, hands down. For me, somehow he keeps trying to sneak into my top three Premier League midfielders ever really.”

“I’ve never seen someone be able to create like he does, he will go down as one of the best midfielders in Premier League history,” Alexander-Arnold told talkSPORT.

Kevin De Bruyne has been in scintillating form for Man City this season and he has already provided nine assists from his opening 14 Premier League matches before the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup break.

The Belgian talisman has registered 89 goals in 134 appearances for the Blues since he joined the club. The 31-year-old is currently fifth in the Premier League all-time assists list – 67 behind leading assister Ryan Giggs.

Though Kevin De Bruyne was unable to carry that form into the World Cup – as Belgium were crashed out in the group stages – Liverpool’s Alexander-Arnold couldn’t help but shower the 31-year-old with praise.
