Manchester City secured a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium thanks to goals from Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva.

Foden opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a brilliant solo effort, cutting inside a group of static Newcastle defenders before firing the ball past Nick Pope.

Bernardo Silva doubled City’s advantage in the second half, curling a shot past Pope from the edge of the box. Despite Newcastle looking threatening going forward, they were unable to find a way past City’s defence.
