Kevin De Bruyne has shared his thoughts on Manchester City’s newest additions, Abdukodir Khusanov and Omar Marmoush, following their contributions in the 3-1 victory over Chelsea on January 25, 2025.

Reflecting on Khusanov’s debut, the 20-year-old Uzbek defender who was thrown into action during an injury crisis, De Bruyne acknowledged the youngster’s resilience:

“Abdukodir Khusanov came in when we didn’t have any defenders, had a tough five minutes, but after that, he did well. He should be proud to do that at 20 years old.”

Khusanov’s arrival has provided much-needed depth to City’s defense, especially with injuries limiting Pep Guardiola’s options at the back.

De Bruyne also praised Marmoush, who impressed with his versatility and attacking movement in his first appearance for the club.

“I thought Omar Marmoush had a good game too and showed qualities. It’s something we maybe lacked a bit—somebody running in behind, who can play multiple positions. We have more people in the squad and more rotational options, which is good.”

As City prepares to face Arsenal today in a crucial Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium, Guardiola will hope the new signings can continue making an impact as the team fights to maintain its title challenge.
