Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says that Erling Haaland is getting better day by day in the wake of the painful foot injury he suffered away at Dortmund in late October.
Addressing the media ahead of Wednesday’s eagerly awaited return to Premier League action at Leeds, the City boss allayed any fears about Haaland, confirming the 22-year-old will be primed for the Elland Road clash.
“I think he will be ready. Day by day he’s getting better. As much, he can train, he will get his condition,” Guardiola declared.
“The injury is completely different to last season.
“It was a knock in his feet in Dortmund when we played Champions League. The doctor says his damage his ligament in his feet is so painful, it’s not easy to recover.
“That’s why he struggled.
“But muscular issues and everything is perfect and now he is much, much, much better. Now it’s a question of time. Of course, we need him. And yes, he was good (against Liverpool).
“On Thursday he finished good.”
The City boss further talked about Julian Alvarez’s return from Argentina after his World Cup victory with the nation and has thanked them because he will come back better.
Pep Guardiola also said that Man City are unlikely to make further additions to their squad during the January transfer window.
When asked if there was an area he’d like to strengthen next month, Pep explained: “No, I don’t think so. I think we are going to finish in this way. I don’t know what’s going to happen.
“But since I arrived back from Abu Dhabi, with the sporting director, with Txiki [Begiristain] and everyone, there wasn’t any name on the table.”
