Manuel Akanji talks Premier League title race and Manchester City’s performances ahead of Bournemouth clash

Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji has given his thoughts on the Premier League title race and his team’s recent performances in a recent interview.

Akanji agrees with manager Pep Guardiola‘s prediction of more twists and turns in the title race, saying, “I feel really good, I feel confident. We are obviously two points behind and played one more game than Arsenal, but we still have to play against them and there’s a lot of games left. It’s on us to win our games and focus on ourselves.”

Regarding City’s recent 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig in the Champions League, Akanji believes it was a good result, given that it was an away game in the knockout stage of the competition. He said, “It’s an away game in the knockout stage of the Champions League – it’s never going to be easy; it doesn’t matter which team you face. I think we played really well with the ball in the first half, and we were in control.”

However, Akanji also acknowledged that there is room for improvement in City’s play, particularly in the second half of the RB Leipzig match. He said, “We made some mistakes. They put more pressure on us and we didn’t play well with the ball. We gave it away too easily. It’s something we can work on for the second game.”

Looking ahead to City’s upcoming Premier League match against Bournemouth, Akanji is optimistic about his team’s chances but knows that there are no easy games in the league. There’s never an easy game – it doesn’t matter which team you are facing – you’ve always got to be at your best otherwise you are going to concede goals. You have to always be ready in your head and for the aggressiveness that the other teams show.”
