Foden spoke about his special bond with the fans, especially having grown up in Manchester and played at every level for the club:
“I have a special connection with the fans, especially growing up here and playing in every age group. You never know what the future holds, but I’m happy here, and there is nowhere better.”
Having made his first-team debut seven years ago in the Champions League victory over Feyenoord, Foden has experienced numerous magical moments. One of his most cherished memories is scoring his first goal for the club in a League Cup win against Oxford United in 2018:
“I can’t describe that feeling when the ball went into the back of the net. It was everything I’d been working for. All those hours I’d put into playing football – in my head, it all paid off when I scored that goal.”

Another standout moment in Foden’s career came during the 2018/19 season when City were battling Liverpool for the Premier League title. After a heartbreaking Champions League exit to Tottenham, City faced Spurs again in a crucial Premier League match. Pep Guardiola gave the then-18-year-old Foden a starting spot, and he responded by scoring a decisive diving header, securing a 1-0 win:
“Coming off the back of the Champions League defeat to Tottenham, it was so hard to bounce back. But I remember seeing the teamsheet, and the manager had put me in, thinking: ‘Wow! This is a massive game.’ I have to step up here and try to help the team.”
Foden’s goal was a key moment in City’s eventual Premier League triumph, a milestone he regards as one of the most important in his career, boosting his confidence and helping him “come out of his shell.”
