Leverkusen Expected to Submit Bid for McAtee

According to Sky Sports News reporters Amar Mehta and Lyall Thomas, Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen are expected to submit an offer for Manchester City’s James McAtee once the transfer window reopens.

No formal bid could be placed during the first phase of the transfer window, which recently closed. However, Leverkusen remain interested in the 22-year-old midfielder.

McAtee is currently leading the England U21 squad in Slovakia, and any transfer negotiations will have to wait until after both the UEFA U21 European Championship and the FIFA Club World Cup have concluded.

Reports suggest that City are seeking a transfer fee of over £25 million plus performance-based add-ons. Some sources even indicate that the club may value McAtee significantly higher, given his potential and recent performances.

This situation follows City’s previous sale of attacking talent Cole Palmer, who moved to Chelsea in a £40 million deal.

It’s also believed that McAtee is open to the move and is keen on joining Leverkusen, provided the two clubs can reach a mutual agreement.
