Ferran Torres - Optimistic About City's Scoring Drought

Ferran Torres is optimistic that the goals will come for Manchester City sooner than later. The young Spaniard who was signed from Valencia during the summer transfer window, has had a good ride so far despite not playing in his natural position.

Torres has scored three goals in our first three Champions League group games – and also claimed his first senior hat-trick for Spain against Germany last week.

Although City have scored goals in European games so far, they have struggled to score in the English Premier League. However, Torres remains hopeful and confident that the goals will come.

“We have had a few injuries to our strikers – but we are scoring goals, just not as many as we would like”, Torres reflected.

“We have faced difficult opponents but we are working hard to sort it out and I am sure the goals will arrive.

(For me) Playing as a striker is not my natural position but I am comfortable there.
I have scored goals, so it’s good. When you work hard and make sacrifices for the team, you get rewards. I’m just going to keep working hard and trying to score goals”.

The 20 years old Spaniard also talked about how huge his move to Manchester City is and how it has impacted him as a professional footballer as well as an individual.

“Manchester City has a great team of staff to help you settle as quickly as possible”. Torres added.

“My teammates have helped me a lot too, especially the Spanish players.

Eric Garcia is a good friend because I know him from the national team. But all of them have helped me settle in. When I came, I knew it was a great opportunity for me. I also knew it would be difficult – a change. of league, a new country.

But I work hard every day, so the team and manager trust me, that’s my goal, for Pep to trust me and give me minutes on the pitch”.

When Ferran Torres arrived, he was given David Silva’s iconic number 21 shirt. He has big boots to fill and he believes he will honour Silva through his performances. He also hopes to meet him one day.

“We know David Silva is a legend of this club, he has been a great player for many years”, Torres declared.

“I wear his number and hopefully I can honour him with my performances and hopefully I can meet him in the future”.
