Doku and Cherki Earn Premier League Goal of the Month Nominations After Anfield Masterclass

Manchester City’s memorable 3-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield has received further recognition, with Jérémy Doku and Rayan Cherki both shortlisted for the Premier League’s October Goal of the Month award.

The two attacking players produced moments of individual quality during City’s impressive performance on Merseyside, helping their side secure a commanding result against one of their biggest rivals.

Doku’s contribution was a fine example of his ability to create danger from the left. Cutting inside onto his preferred foot, the Belgian winger opened up space before unleashing a superb curling effort that flew into the far top corner.

It was a finish that combined confidence, technique and precision, leaving the Liverpool defence with little chance of stopping it.

Cherki also made his mark on the occasion, finding the net in a result that underlined City’s attacking quality. His nomination alongside Doku means the club has two representatives in the running for October’s individual award.

The pair’s efforts added to Erling Haaland’s earlier goal, completing a memorable afternoon for City supporters at Anfield.

Having both found the net in such an important fixture, Doku and Cherki will now hope their strikes receive enough support to claim the Premier League’s monthly prize.

For City, the nominations provide another reason to look back fondly on a performance that delivered three goals, a clean sheet and a significant statement away from home.
