Jack Grealish Transfer Pathway Clarified Amid Man City Exit Talk

Everton have emerged as the latest club interested in Manchester City winger Jack Grealish, as speculation grows around his future at the Etihad Stadium.

England manager Thomas Tuchel has stressed that Grealish must be playing regularly in European competition if he is to return to top form and reclaim his spot in the national team ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

The 29-year-old is expected to leave City during the current transfer window following another underwhelming season. Reports suggest he may even be omitted from City’s squad for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup to smooth the way for his exit.

Grealish has endured limited game time, starting only one Premier League match after the New Year and appearing in the starting XI just six times in 2025. His influence has dipped since the club’s treble-winning campaign in 2023.

According to Tuchel, Grealish needs to join a team that can offer him regular football—ideally two matches per week—if he wants to get back to his best and become a key figure for England again. Though he had a brief resurgence under interim coach Lee Carsley, his last cap came in October 2024.

“I have heard the same as you—that City might not take him to the Club World Cup,” Tuchel stated ahead of England’s fixtures against Andorra and Senegal during the international break.

“He must get back to playing regularly. That’s where he thrives—by building rhythm and improving every few days. That’s what he’s lacking right now, not ability.”

Tuchel praised Grealish’s unique personality and ability to handle high-pressure situations. “He’s always stepped up in big matches. He enjoys pressure, but he needs consistent minutes, which he simply hasn’t had for quite a while.”

When asked if he’s spoken to the City forward, Tuchel added: “Yes, I spoke with Jack before our first camp and shortly after the FA Cup final, but we haven’t spoken since.”
