Phil Foden has noted an increased intensity in England’s training sessions as they prepare for their final Euro 2024 group game against Slovenia. The Three Lions are currently top of Group C with four points from their first two matches. A win on Tuesday evening will secure them first place heading into the knockout stages.
Foden, who has started both fixtures alongside City teammates Kyle Walker and John Stones, reflected on England’s performances so far. The team defeated Serbia 1-0 before drawing 1-1 with Denmark.

While satisfied with the team’s start, Foden believes there’s more to come from this squad. He shared his thoughts on England’s Lions’ Den live show ahead of Tuesday’s 20:00 (UK) clash with Slovenia:
Increased Intensity
“The intensity’s gone up a little bit [in training],” Foden said. “We’ve had a good start and we’re on four points, but we expect more from ourselves. I look around and the characters we have, we always expect more. I feel like training’s gone up a bit going into this game.”
Embracing Pressure
England entered the tournament as one of the favorites, a pressure Foden relishes. Since making his senior international debut in 2020, the FWA Footballer of the Year has become a key figure for Gareth Southgate’s side, earning 36 caps.

Enjoying the Challenge
Foden expressed his joy in representing his nation and the high standards of the current squad: “The standard is so high. For me, this is probably the most technical England team I’ve seen, and training is at such a high level. It’s where you want to be, playing with the best players week in, week out. I’m just happy to be here and trying to help the team as best as possible.”
As England prepares for their crucial clash with Slovenia, Foden’s observations and enthusiasm highlight the team’s focus and determination to advance confidently into the knockout stages.
