Man City mark their return with a magnificent victory against Girona FC

The Cityzens are back from international duty and they mark their return with an outstanding 2-0 victory against their sister club Girona FC in a friendly match.

Manchester City Academy Stadium is were the action took place – a match needed game for City supporters around the globe following the international break.

Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring account for Man City after converting a defensive error by Girona FC. The goal was scored in the fifth minute of the match and thirteen minutes later Erling Haaland also registered his name on the scoresheet.

The assist was provided by De Bruyne and the partnership of him and Haaland was definitely missed by the City fans.

Youngsters such as Rico Lewis, Shea Charles, Jadel Katongo, and Morgan Elliot Rogers were included in the starting XI and were given a chance to step up. They were excellent on the defensive line and kept a clean sheet with the help of senior squad players – Sergio Gomez and Stefan Ortega Moreno.

While the rest were on defense, Morgan Rogers played on the left wing with supporting forwards – Erling Haaland and Riyad Mahrez. He was later replaced by Carlos Borges in the 51st minute of the match.

This game was a pivotal one in terms of preparing for match sharpness and the season to resume after a long spell without club level action, ahead of next week’s Carabao Cup fourth round clash with Liverpool.
