Pep Guardiola Praises New Signings Ait-Nouri and Echeverri after City's 6-0 win over Al Ain.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola praised Rayan Ait-Nouri and Claudio Echeverri after his side’s dominant 6-0 victory over Al Ain in Atlanta, confirming qualification for the FIFA Club World Cup last 16.

Ilkay Gundogan scored twice, including a delicate chip, while Echeverri marked his first start for City with a superb free-kick goal. Erling Haaland converted a penalty, with substitutes Rayan Cherki and Oscar Bobb also adding to the scoreline.

Summer signing Ait-Nouri impressed on his debut, playing effectively in both defensive and attacking phases. Guardiola said: “It’s his first game, but he played very good. He defended well, moved intelligently, and contributed in the final third.”

Guardiola also praised Echeverri’s goal, noting his dedication in training: “He’s stayed behind practicing free-kicks. The work paid off. He’s an incredible player in small spaces.”

Echeverri was substituted at half-time due to an ankle issue, but Guardiola was pleased with his overall performance.

City and Juventus now share top spot in Group G, each with six points, though Juventus lead on goal difference. The two teams meet Thursday in Orlando to determine the group winner.
