Josko Gvardiol has been voted as the Etihad Player of the Season for the 2024/25 campaign.
The Croatian defender secured the award ahead of teammates Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland, making a significant impact in only his second season at the Club.
Thousands of fans cast their votes, with Gvardiol receiving nearly half of the total ballots in the final shortlist stage.
Across all competitions, the 23-year-old made 53 appearances this season – more than any other player in Pep Guardiola’s squad. His versatility across both left-back and center-back positions proved crucial throughout the campaign.
Gvardiol contributed offensively as well, scoring five Premier League goals. One of his standout moments was a spectacular right-footed strike against Wolves, which earned the Nissan Goal of the Month title for October.
He also found the net in the FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest, reinforcing his status as one of the most effective scoring defenders globally.
Later in the season, Gvardiol formed a strong defensive partnership with Ruben Dias, helping City secure a third-place finish in the Premier League and qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
This marks his first Etihad Player of the Season award, following previous winners Phil Foden and Erling Haaland. Kevin De Bruyne remains the record holder, having won the award four times, matching former captain Richard Dunne.
With the award now under his belt, Gvardiol and the City squad are gearing up for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
Congratulations to Josko Gvardiol on this well-deserved recognition!
