Doku Vows to Honour De Bruyne with FA Cup Glory as City Legend Nears Exit

Jeremy Doku: “We’ll Fight to Give De Bruyne the Farewell He Deserves”

Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku has pledged that the squad will do everything in their power to ensure Kevin De Bruyne ends his time at the club on a high, with FA Cup glory firmly in their sights.

The 33-year-old Belgian playmaker will leave Manchester City at the end of the 2024–25 season, drawing the curtain on a remarkable 10-year spell that began in the summer of 2015. De Bruyne’s tenure has been decorated with an astonishing 19 major trophies, with the 2025 FA Cup final against Crystal Palace and a Champions League qualification chase offering the chance to make it 20 before he bows out.

Doku: “He Was Here Before Pep – He’s a True Legend”

Speaking to club media ahead of the crucial final fixtures of the season, Doku didn’t hold back in praising his fellow countryman and City talisman.

“He’s a legend here, he’s a legend and he’s won a lot of trophies,” Doku said.

“When I look at the team, he’s the guy who was always there. He was the first, in fact, here between all of us. He was even here before Pep. So, he really is a legend here and he deserves a lot of respect.”

De Bruyne’s influence has stretched beyond his statistics — his leadership, creativity, and consistent brilliance have left an indelible mark on the club, the Premier League, and fans across the globe.

A Decade of Brilliance: De Bruyne’s Legacy at Manchester City

Since arriving from Wolfsburg in 2015, De Bruyne has become one of the most influential midfielders in Premier League history. His honours include:

  • 5 Premier League titles

  • 2 FA Cups (with a potential third pending)

  • 5 EFL Cups

  • 1 UEFA Champions League

  • 1 FIFA Club World Cup

  • 1 UEFA Super Cup

  • 4 Community Shields

He has also been named Premier League Player of the Season twice and has earned multiple inclusions in the PFA Team of the Year.

Doku emphasized that De Bruyne has earned universal admiration not just for his achievements, but for the way he has carried himself:

“He’ll leave a lot of great memories. The fans are crazy about him and that’s normal because he’s given so much to this Club.”

City Determined to Send De Bruyne Off with a Trophy

With just four Premier League games and the FA Cup final at Wembley remaining, Doku insists the team is locked in on delivering a perfect send-off.

“There’s still the FA Cup to play for. We’re going to give everything so that he can leave with a trophy,” Doku added.

“He’s a legend, as I said.”

As Manchester City pursue one last triumph for their departing No. 17, fans will hope the FA Cup final becomes a fitting finale to an era defined by De Bruyne’s genius.
